Grass-roots Freestyle Development Project

Big thanks to Heidi Bradley (UKA Coach) for allowing me to join her High Jump training session at Costello Athletic Stadium. Although high jump is not my specialisation I was there as part of my research into a new project looking at grass-root development for freestyle paddlesport. I’ve known Heidi for many years and we discuss coaching whenever we meet, so it was great to see her at work…

Here’s to 2016 and new adventures…

Massive thanks to my all those who have supported me in 2015. It’s been a non-stop year of glorious white-water. Friends and sponsors have been there all the way, keeping me in the mix, focused on my ideas and inspiring new projects. Here’s to 2016 and new adventures… Wishing you all the best Kokatat, Werner Paddles, Liquidlogic Kayaks, HF, Playboater, Watershed, System X

This year we’d like to raise the bar of female performance even further and are adding a 2016-2017 goal to break the 1k points (under the current ICF float rules). Freestyle Coaching @ HPP

Great to see UK squirt boating growing again in popularity as it’s such an amazing discipline of freestyle kayaking. A big part of this is the inspiration of the recent 2015 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships. I was at HPP coaching Ottilie Robinson-Shaw (GB Jnr Squad) a few days ago. She’s on fire at the moment, rapidly growing her repertoire of skills. Squirt boating compliments areas of her float boating too, as she can practice Read more

World Championships 2015 – Spare Time Between Coaching

I’ve been training hard during my spare time whilst here and am stoked with my progress. I’m now consistently scoring above 800 and occasionally close to a 1000 points. Garburator is a very physical wave, it takes a lot of energy and focus to maintain a fast tempo between tricks. I can’t wait to see the event unfold, you can follow all the action and your national team on the official live stream: https://www.worldfreestylekayakchampionships.com/

Finland Freestyle Camp – Lapland

I’ve just returned from a Finnish team freestyle camp in Lapland. That far north means endless daylight and awesome waves. In traditional Lapland fashion we had a mix of sun, rain and a little snow – providing an ever changing mood to the landscape. The air temperature was mild at around 14 degrees, and the water, well, as fresh as always. I’ve worked with the Finnish freestyle team before, but this time the World Championship Read more
