I have finally had time to sit back and reflect on the past year. I feel lucky to finish the year with so much gratitude. For the people, for the sport and for the life I live. I have spent hours and hours on the water doing what I love most. I have been surrounded by cool people, made new friends and spent time with the people I love.

I had the opportunity to travel to new places, some of which I have dreamed about since I was a little kid. I got to compete at the 2023 Freestyle kayaking World Championships, which involved lots of time in my boat, an opportunity to push myself and a whole lot of fun kayaking with the international community.

I feel proud of the progress I have made while paddling, specifically learning new wave tricks. I have come to realise that the joy of competition is having something to motivate you to get off your ass and work towards a goal.

I would like to thank everybody who is part of my journey, however, an extra special thank you is due to: Dennis Newton (Sweetwater Coaching) for not only being the best coach in the world but an awesome friend as well. All the GB freestyle team staff and volunteers, you are all amazing. The nice folks at Peak PS for their continued support, keeping me warm and dry. The families that have opened their homes: Fiona, Jeff, Sophie, Joseph, Jenny, Chloe and CJ. There are so many other people who I am extremely thankful for their kindness and generosity, I hope you know who you are. Bring on 2024!
