
ASP Selection Process
Sweetwater Coaching uses a clear and fair selection process that places athletes into three levels: Elite, Performance, and Development. Each level has defined entry and retention standards that reflect your current performance profile and progression.
Once selected, you’re placed at the level that best matches your development needs and supported with ASP resources aligned to your goals, training, and performance plan.
Elite (Level 1)
Entry:
Athletes may be considered for Elite carding if they have:
- Achieved or exceeded a performance standard within the Top 10 positions at National or International competitions, and/or
- Demonstrated clear upward progression toward this level.
Retention:
Elite athletes are expected to:
- Show yearly progress (tracking up) and/or maintaining performance within their competitive discipline(s).
- Qualify for targeted championship events and demonstrate peak performance (based on placing and/or percentage of season’s best compared to competition results).
Performance (Level 2)
Entry:
Athletes may be considered for Performance carding if they have:
- Multiple performances above the Level 3 standard, and
- Results that track within the transition zone or Top 20 positions at National or International competitions.
Retention:
- Improve or maintain their performance each year at or above the Level 2 standard during the two‑year carding period.
- If criteria are met after two years, an additional period of up to two years may be awarded to continue improving or consolidating performance.
Development (Level 3)
Entry:
Athletes may be considered for Development carding if they have:
- Multiple performances tracking within the Top 30 positions at National or International competitions.
Retention:
Development athletes are expected to:
- Improve their performance within the one‑year carding period at or above the Level 3 standard.
- If criteria are met after one year, a further period of up to one year may be awarded to continue improving or maintaining performance.
